Vitznau is one of the main departure points for excursions into the mountains and on the lake. The first cog railway of Europe departs in front of the hotel and boats to Lucerne or to the Fjord-like end of the lake leave approximately once an hour in summer. The steepest mountain railway in the world up to Mount Pilatus, cable car up Mount Titlis, which is snow-capped all year, as well as the biggest fleet of traditional steam boats in Europe are additional attractions.
